Features of Medicare Supplements (Plan G)

Medicare supplements are a great option for people who live in rural areas, where other Medicare plans may not be available. They are also suitable for those who travel, who may have higher health risks and those who want a predictable health care cost. In order to have a supplement plan, you must be entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Part B.

  • Payment of deductibles
  • Payment of copayments
  • Payment of coinsurance
  • Any doctor who accepts Medicare Patients will accept supplemental insurance too
Supplements allow you to choose your doctors and give our clients peace of mind knowing that their supplement will pay the high copays and deductibles that tradition Medicare does not. Here at You Matter, we have access to the top Medicare Supplement companies and would love to help you find the best plan!

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage plans, or Plan C, are offered by private insurance companies to take over where Medicare leaves off. You must be entitled to Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B to enroll. The different types of Medicare Advantage plans include HMO, PPO, Special Needs Plans, and Private Fee for Service Plans. The type of plan you choose will depend on where you live, and what your healthcare needs are. Medicare Advantage is a great option as they typically are an all in one healthcare plan. They sometimes include extra benefits outside traditional Medicare. To learn more about your options, You Matter would love to help!

Features of Medicare Advantage

  • Affordable Premiums
  • May include additional benefits
  • Has a Network of Providers
  • Most include prescription drug coverage
  • Have copays and Max out of pocket costs
  • Not available in all areas (county-specific)
  • Change on a yearly basis (we review our clients plans each year)
  • Can only enroll during specific times of the year or when you first enroll in part B

Medicare Advantage is a great option for those who do not want to pay a higher monthly premium, who do not mind having a network of doctors to stay in and those who want an all in one plan.

When Can you Enroll?

For Medicare Advantage, you can only enroll during defined times to the year. The most common time to make changes is during the Annual Enrollment Period from October 15 to December 7. You can also enroll during the first 3 months before you turn 65, the month of your 65th birthday, and 3 months after. Although there are many Special Election periods, You Matter can help guide you in the decision.

For Medicare Supplements, you have a guaranteed enrollment period for 6 months after you turn 65. This means there is no health underwriting so you will not have to pay more for a supplement. After the guarantee enrollment time has passed, you can change your supplement at any time of the year but are subject to health underwriting. Here at You Matter we have options for everyone, so if you think you cannot change to a more affordable supplement, let us see how we can help.
